Hong Kong vs. Macau

Since around prefix 6133 Hong Kong cards have been marked with HK in the upper right corner and Macau cards have been marked with MO. This can be seen in the following pictures of the 2019 Year of the Pig card:

The left card is the Macau card, and the right is the Hong Kong:

However, telling the difference between older cards is a little more challenging. On earlier cards, the text Check your balance at participating Starbucks stores, Starbucks.com.hk or 2101-1399 (Hong Kong) or 0800-933 (Macau) appears on both types of cards and both types of cards have a front sticker that only references a website ending in .hk. Looking into the actual text in the first column it is easy to tell the difference because the Hong Kong card states: It cannot be used at any 'We proudly brew Starbucks Coffee' counters in Hong Kong and the Macau card: It cannot be used at any 'We proudly brew Starbucks Coffee' counters in Macau. Here, the City Store card illustrates this point:

The left card is the Macau card, and the right is the Hong Kong:

This differenting sentence can be found on line 7 of the first column.

Macau:

Hong Kong:
